Weekend Wrap-up

I'm back from training! YEAH! Coming back from a week out of the office stinks. Tons of email to catch up on. Blah.

Good weekend overall. I got up Saturday and went for my long run. 8 miles again. This time I went to the trace and ran there (our rails to trails). It had been raining all week so the rain really helped cool things down. However, the humidity was unGodly. Ugh. The first four miles out I did great. Great time, great pace. The four back,....ummm...not so much. I slowed down quite a bit. But I got it done. I think there were several problems with the run. 1. I didn't eat enough the night before. I ate too much at lunch and wasn't really hungry for dinner. I just ate some stewed squash - not enough calories to sustain the long run. 2. The humidity really zapped me more than I anticipated.

I think I'm pushing too hard too fast though. My knee flared up a bit again last night. I just need to slow my butt down on the long runs. I'll brace it up and pop some ibuprofen. That'll help.
I was going to run this morning (3 today) but with the knee screaming at me, I figured I would give it a little more rest. I'll try and get the slow and easy 3 in tonight after I get home. So, I just hit the snooze and went back to bed.

Other than that nothing major to report. Jeff and I relaxed, went to our friend's restaurant for dinner on Saturday (yummy crab cakes!) and played some Lego's Indiana Jones on the xbox. Ha!

Today I LOVE: The Gu Chocolate Outrage energy gel. Wow - that stuff is YUMMY!

I like to move it, move it!

IT'S CASUAL FRIDAY!!!! And I'm in my jeans!!! I have to laugh at that episode of The Office. I just crack up with Michael standing on the table (or was it Pam's counter?) dancing in his jeans. Ahhh....those crazy kids down at Dundler-Mifflin. Of course...."There ain't no party like a Scranton party!"

I went for a tempo run last night. I was a bit worried because I had to completely lay off the running last week because my stupid knee flared up. I'm pretty sure it means I need new shoes. But I just have to lay off of it for about a week, brace it when I can and take some ibuprofen to keep the immflamation to a minimum. And, voila! No pain this week. I braced it last night to be on the safe side for my run. I kicked *ss my first two miles (8:53 pace) but that last mile was killer. Do NOT...I NOT eat a bunch of multi-grain Ritz crisp crackers with a smokey cheddar cheese ball just before you go run. NOT pretty. Ugh... I felt like I was gonna barf that whole last mile. Blech. It really slowed me down, but I squeeked out a 9:24 pace for all three. Ugh...and the heat index and humidity is killer right now! It was still a heat index in the upper 90s last night at 7:30.

Tomorrow....long run. I gotta get up early and get 'er done. I can't decide if I want to get up and run by myself or meet the group at 7:00 and run. I may meet them and run on the trace for a change of pace (HA! I'm a poet and didn't know it!)

No big plans this weekend. Jeff is making moans about laying the tile. He mowed the lawn last night so that it would free him up for this weekend to work on the tile. It's gonna look SUPER cool when it's down. We picked a nice 16"x16" slate to put out there. I'll take some pics when we're done and show you guys.
OK, that's all for now.

Today I LOVE: The word of the day from I have it e-mailed to me every day. Yesterday's word was defenestrate (to throw someone out of a window). I feel like defenestrating several people at work today. HA!

T-minus 4 days and counting....

I should really put up one of those ticker things to count down the time until the ILLs leave. Ha. Thing is, we don't know what time they're leaving on Sunday. I really, really want to go see SATC on Sunday with a girlfriend of mine. I might just go ahead and schedule it. Oh...and I decided to do the race on Saturday. It should be a lot of fun - several of the people that I trained with for the Mardi Gras marathon are running, it supports Ryan's store, AND you get a super cool pair of Brooks running shorts for the race (The race entry is $20. The shorts are worth $35!) AND it gets me out of the house for a couple of hours, ILL free.

I know I'm sounding so super negative towards them right now. It's just that they completely stress me out. I can tell. I'm eating like a horse. And I guess the fact that they see nothing wrong with staying for 8 days astounds me. They came to "help" but they're not helping, they're just exhausting Jeff and me. They make these HUGE sit down meals for us at night. Jeff and I don't eat that heavy. Usually it's a salad or light soup for dinner. Then we have to clean up the 80 pots and pans and plates that they have used to cook this meal. Really! I'm FINE with a bowl of cereal! One bowl, low calorie and I don't wake up with acid reflux and indigestion. I'm stressed, I'm eating like crazy and I'm completely exhausted. I hate that I cannot relax in my own house.

OK - enough ranting. On to more pleasant things. I have to run tonight because I just didn't have it in me to run this morning. The alarm went off and I was JUST exhausted. I did run my 6 miles on Sunday and walked the dogs in the a.m. on Monday. So today....tentatively I have to run my 3 to 4 miles (depending on how I feel and how hot it is.) I might even go to the gym. Again - it gets me out of the house! Heeee.....
